It can be a very pleasurable experience when you see your child slithering across the snow and to have that sight, you must be seeking ways through which you can make a perfect skier or snowboarder out of your child. It takes time and patience to teach any sport to a child and when we are talking about introducing him to water or snow sports, then these are needed all the more.

If you have already taught other sports to your child, then you must know how your child is able to learn new things. You have already witnessed your child honing his skills in other sports and activities and thus, you are already aware of his tolerance and frustration level for learning new concepts. Whether he should learn skiing before snowboarding or not is a decision to be made by you only as a parent.

It would be a better idea to let your child learn skiing at least for a week before he is introduced to a snowboard. After all, your child has no need to be an expert skier before he may start to learn snowboarding. But if he gets to learn skiing at first, he will become aware of some of the basic moves that he will have to use on the snow including stopping and turning. Through this strategy, he will become more comfortable on the ski and will learn about how can be slide down the slopes so easily.

Once the child has learned skiing fully or at least he has become aware of the basics, then it would be better for him to start learning snowboarding. It is true that kids take longer to learn sports like snowboarding even if it is on an easy slope. It is not wise to teach snowboarding to a child below 6 years of age as the experience can be more frustrating for the child.

If you really want your 2-3 years old child to have some real fun over the snow, then consider enrolling him to basic skiing classes that would be ideal for him. In these classes, he will start learning about the basic things about the sport from a very early age which is the time when children have more capability to learn new things easily and quickly.

While giving your child skiing or snowboarding lessons, you should keep in mind that the attention span and stamina of children is much less than the adults. They have to undergo physical growth also and thus, learning skiing or snowboarding can be a real challenge for them. They should wait at least 7-8 years of age so that they can grasp and enjoy the activities at their best.
