Creating an Exceptionally Gorgeous Look with Makeup

Can you remember how much you enjoyed painting when you were a little girl? Well, lucky us, we girls still get to have fun with paints, only now we call it make up!

That’s right, getting a gorgeous look with cosmetics is a lot like creating a work of art. If you know a few tips regarding color and medium, you can make your very own pretty face.

Start your look by taking excellent care of your canvas – your skin. Learn about your personal skin type – normal, dry, oily or combination — and then embark on a regular skin care routine. Two times every day you should cleanse your skin, tone it with a gentle toner, and moisturize, even if you have oily or combination skin. Stick to this process and you’ll always have a great start to your makeup look.

Next, decide on a good foundation that matches your skin type. You should always purchase the highest quality makeup you can afford, because it’s going on one of the most precious organs of your body, your skin. Cheap makeup looks on your complexion like just what they are – bad quality makeup product.

The trickiest part of choosing a good foundation is to find the correct match. The fluorescent lighting used at most cosmetics counters can wash out your skin color, making it near impossible to get a matching color. To make up for it, try putting a little bit of the foundation product on the very inside of your wrist. Your skin in that part of your arm will be the closest to your facial skin tone. Don’t try to select a color by putting it on the back of your hand, because your hand is always darker than your face due to sun exposure. And don’t try makeup samples on your face, because they can contain germs.

After you’ve decided upon your foundation, the real fun begins. So many makeup colors, and only one face! The answer to this issue is to give yourself more than one look. Some girls like to develop a regular look based on the main shades in their wardrobe. Others like to experiment as fashions change throughout the seasons.

Many men like to make fun of us about our makeup, calling it “war paint” (remember Mel Gibson and those crazy Scottish warriors in the movie “Braveheart”?). Well, in some ways, the guys are correct: a woman whose cosmetics products helps her look better not only looks great, she feels happy and strong, able to handle whatever life may bring. (And as a side note, have you ever noticed how many more professional men take a break to go get facials these days?)

But don’t stop with only one solitary face! Since night lighting can wash out your makeup, go for the dramatic finish with your night makeup. Do you have great lips? Then emphasize them by wearing a bright red, moist lip color and hold back on your other makeup products so that your lips stand out. If your eyes are your better feature, then select more drastic colors that will make them hypnotize everyone who glances at you.

Because of these different needs, it’s always good to get a family member or beauty pro help you check out your cosmetics look. A friendly eye can assist you in coming up with your final work of art – the most attractive you!
